Global goals
Global goals at Dansk Transport Emballage A/S
The SDGs are a big part of Dansk Transport Emballages' everyday life and have been an important factor for several years. Why do we choose to focus on the UN Global Goals? As a company, we believe it is important to focus on the SDGs to a greater or lesser extent. We all have a responsibility for sustainable development, both as a business and as individuals.
What have we done and what are we doing now
Focus on the SDGs
Our focus on the environment is a top priority and we strive every day to create more sustainability in everyday life. We sell products made from both recycled and virgin plastic. For more than 28 years, we have bought and resold used plastic products, including pallets, tubs and boxes to ensure a longer lifespan. If this is not possible due to quality and condition, the product is granulated to be recycled into a new product as part of our circular economy approach. When plastic is granulated and recycled, it is of course Co2 neutral.
SDG 7 - Sustainable Energy.
Timer and sensor on lights in all rooms. Replaced lights with LED. Minimized lighting in the warehouses.
Solar shading and CTS (Central Condition Monitoring and Control) systems used to control and regulate the buildings' heating and ventilation systems so that they function optimally with the lowest possible energy consumption.
SDG 9 - Industry, innovation and infrastructure.
We have always focused on waste sorting. However, it has been highlighted now, so there is more focus among employees than before. In the warehouse, we have optimized with more waste containers and created a station where other waste is sorted.
We recycle phones, computers and other electronics until they can no longer be used.
When we bring goods home from abroad, we make sure as far as possible to bring full loads home or collect orders together - less Co2, better driving behavior.
SDG 12 - Responsible consumption and production.
Almost paperless office and significant reduction of paper consumption in accounting.
Electronics, chemicals etc. are disposed of responsibly.
We reuse waste sacks that sit in the waste bins for paper and plastic until they are no longer needed.
Reuse of cardboard boxes for parcel shipments. Among other things, cardboard from pallets is cut into inserts.
Recycling of soft plastic for filling in cartons.
Focus on our suppliers; do they think the SDGs into their organization?
SDG 15 - Life on land.
We are located in an industrial area where there is nature around the site that we cannot control. That's why we have created an area on the site with trees and wild flowers. During the summer of 2023, we will be able to enjoy the new planting. Not only will we have a beautiful, colorful sight among the industrial buildings when we arrive at work, but we will also contribute to better biodiversity.
From thought to action
Where do we want to go?
First and foremost, we will try to change behavior so that the idea of sustainability can be implemented in everyday life; both in the workplace, but also at home. In addition, the latest initiatives, such as reducing energy consumption and efficient waste sorting, will become more visible.
