New rules for household-like waste from businesses

From December 31, 2022, workplaces will be required to sort household-like waste. The rules will ensure that we sort our waste even more - even when we're at work.



It's the business owner who has to take care of commercial waste management. You already know it from production waste, and now it also applies to household-like waste. All businesses are required to implement sorting and disposal of household-like waste into 10 waste types.

The operator is responsible for contacting a waste operator approved by the Danish Energy Agency. It is their responsibility to document that an agreement has been made with an approved waste operator.

Businesses can use municipal waste sorting for recyclable waste such as cardboard, paper, plastic, metal, glass, food waste
and residual waste on two conditions:
- If your business has an agreement with the owner of the building to use the municipal waste collection system.
- If your company does not have more of the waste type in question than the nature and quantity of a normal household.
