A greener DTE

At a time when climate change and resource scarcity are in focus, it is crucial to take action and aim for more sustainable solutions. At Dansk Transport Emballage (DTE), we have been determined for the past 30 years to play our part and intensify our activities in the circular economy, keeping resources in circulation and minimizing environmental impact. An important part of this effort is our dedication to collecting, sorting and recycling plastic pallets, plastic crates and plastic tubs.

When we receive reusable plastic pallets, plastic crates and plastic tubs, either returned to us from customers or purchased by us, our process starts by carefully assessing each unit. All units are reviewed to assess their condition and how suitable they are for reuse in their current form. The devices that meet our quality standards are recycled and put back into circulation to serve new purposes for our customers. This recycling process not only saves resources, but also reduces the need to produce new devices, minimizing our overall environmental impact.

For those devices that can't be recycled as they are, their lifecycle doesn't stop here. Even the most damaged devices get a chance to be reused. We do this by sending them to granulation. All units we work with are generally made of virgin PP/HDPE plastic or recycled plastic. In connection with granulation, the different products are sorted into PP, HDPE and recycled plastic, as they have different properties and it is easier to control where they are best used in a new product. All plastic that we send for granulation is made from 100% recyclable material and can be used in new products in a CO2 neutral way. By recycling the plastic, we help reduce waste and contribute to the circular economy, minimizing our own waste footprint as well as that of our customers.

Our product range is also continuously expanding with new and existing products that will be produced in either virgin material, 100% recycled granulate or a mix of virgin and recycled material, depending on what the packaging will be used for.

This dedication to reusing and recycling transport packaging is not only a business responsibility, it is also a moral responsibility that we proudly carry. At DTE, we also offer customized solutions for our customers where we take back plastic pallets, plastic crates and/or plastic tubs. These units are sorted, washed and returned to the customer in order to extend their lifetime. Units that do not meet the quality standard will be sent for granulation to be recycled.
