FAQ

Do you have questions about choosing packaging, materials, applications, or regulations? On this FAQ page, we’ve compiled answers to the most common questions about our packaging solutions so you can quickly find the information you’re looking for. Whether you work in manufacturing, food production, logistics, construction, or another industry, we’ll help you find the packaging that best suits your needs.

What is the typical lifespan of our products?

Our plastic products are designed for harsh environments and are durable; however, breakage may occur after prolonged use. Typically, they last several years before needing to be replaced.

What types of plastic are used in our products?

Our plastic packaging is made from various types of plastic, such as PET, HDPE, LDPE, MDPE, PP, PE, and PS, depending on whether the packaging is intended for food contact or made from recycled materials.

What does "circular economy" mean, and how do we approach it?

The circular economy is about reusing materials so they remain in circulation instead of becoming waste. Many plastic products can be granulated and remelted into new products at the end of their useful life. At DTE, we work to ensure that our plastic packaging is handled responsibly and recycled, so that the materials are given a new life and resources are utilized as effectively as possible.

Why should I choose plastic as a packaging solution?

Our plastic packaging is made from a durable material that lasts longer than wood and other materials. Our plastic pallets, in particular, have become very popular because they do not absorb moisture and are suitable for any environment.

Is our plastic food-safe?

Yes, 95% of all our products are approved for both food and pharmaceutical use. We’ll make sure you get the right products tailored to your needs.

Can individuals shop with us?

There are restrictions on what individuals can purchase from us, as we have minimum order quantities that must be met for almost all products. However, we welcome referrals from individuals.

Can I get custom-made or specially designed packaging for my business?

Yes, we specialize in custom-designed plastic packaging solutions, including bins and pallets. We also offer custom-made dollies for our bins, buckets, and crates to facilitate the transport of heavy packaging.

What do we use our secure storage room for?

Our controlled packaging facility sets us apart from other suppliers of plastic packaging. We inspect and repackage our products to ensure that all requirements of the food and pharmaceutical industries are met during transport and through delivery.

What should I do if I have a complaint?

If you need to file a complaint, please call us at 7459 1680, and we will transfer you to the appropriate sales representative.

What is the difference between single-use packaging and reusable packaging?

Single-use packaging is used only once before being discarded or recycled—typically by remelting or granulation. This type of packaging has only one transport cycle, as the purpose is to sell it over and over again so that the manufacturer earns more from its consumption. Reusable packaging is a more sustainable and economical solution, as it can simply be washed and reused countless times before being discarded. This creates a closed loop between the sender and the recipient.

How much do used plastic pallets cost, and why are they cheaper than new ones?

We often sell off our used plastic pallets, as good reusable items shouldn’t go to waste. The price difference is often due to the fact that the production costs have already been written off by a previous owner, and that cosmetic defects (e.g., scratches, faded color, etc.) do not affect the product’s functionality.

How much CO₂ and packaging waste can be reduced by using reusable packaging?

For every product you purchase from Dansk Transport Emballage, you help reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 30–40%. When multiplied by hundreds or thousands of pallets or other products, this quickly adds up to a significant percentage.

How do I order packaging in large quantities (wholesale) for businesses?

Orders can be placed via the contact form or by phone: +45 7459 1680. For larger quantities, please contact our sales department for special offers, as we are happy to ship large orders—including internationally. We represent Danish and international manufacturers from across much of the EU and offer both a standard product line and customized solutions.

What are the legal requirements for food and pharmaceutical (medicine) packaging?

Packaging for food and pharmaceuticals is subject to strict EU requirements focused on food safety, hygiene, traceability, and material quality. A key set of regulations is EU Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, which requires that packaging must not release substances in quantities that could pose a health risk or affect the quality of the food.

How do I return packaging, and what is your return policy?

Business customers may return undamaged in-stock items by prior arrangement. Returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee, and the customer is generally responsible for shipping costs. Special-order items cannot normally be returned. Complaints must be filed within 30 days of receipt, and the item must be returned in substantially the same condition as when it was delivered. As a consumer, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the day you receive the item. However, the right of withdrawal does not apply to custom-ordered items or sealed products where the seal has been broken, if the item is not suitable for return for health or hygiene reasons.

What is your delivery time, and do you deliver throughout Denmark?

Delivery times for our products are typically 2–3 business days, though delays may occur. We ship throughout Denmark, all of Scandinavia, and to several locations abroad. Items are shipped from our warehouse in Vojens, unless otherwise agreed, and any shipping costs and fees will be added to the invoice upon shipment. If DTE arranges the transportation itself, it is at the customer’s expense and risk, and the order is shipped from the warehouse (or directly from the manufacturer) on the date specified in the order confirmation.
